A young mother in communist East Germany gives birth to a boy and gives him up for adoption. Seven years later, she has a baby girl and she too, is adopted. Without sounding too melodramatic, I believe my intervention of her alcohol abuse, coupled with my strong willingness to create an ongoing sexual relationship with her saved my Mother's life. She was 55 years old, twice-divorced, and convinced that her life and her choices for any future happiness with a man were expired. I am an adult, and grew up with a brother, sister and mother, and then grew to know my estranged brother and father. I have never committed incest, and have never been tempted too.

Incest does significantly increase the chances of birth defects in produced offspring, as there is a huge increase in both parents carrying a defective gene, which in reacting with each other would cause a birth defect.

Alot of birth defects apparent in children of parents who are no relation, are also due to carrying the same defective gene. I would advise anyone committed incest, to avoid having children, and if you choose too, to maybe use a sperm donor/surrogate mother.

I don't see anything wrong with Incest if both people are over the age of consent, and choose it to be what they want. I don't agree with 'grooming' children to want an incestuous relationship, or rape in any form.

People are attracted to those who carry the same traits as them, fact. If you have never grown up with someone, there has not been that enforcement of 'this is your family, you do not do things with them.' They are a stranger to you, you do not have a bond with them as family.

People comment on incest being wrong, but childhood sweethearts who marry and have kids, and neighbours who played together everyday since they were small, are no different. The only thing that makes incest different, is their genes. They can cause birth defects, but so can producing children with someone carrying the same defective gene as yourself.

It has not been looked at twice, cousins marrying each other, there is no problem with that. Cousins that have lived near each other, grown up together, went to school, on holiday etc. with each other, who are in family pictures together. Im sure it would be very hard to turn your feelings off for someone just because there is a higher risk of your children having something wrong with them....alot of incestuous couples will not have children through the fear of birth defects. There are dangers in all pregnancies, chances of defects in all, some higher than others. Greater increase does not mean we should condemn someones feelings. Would you stop a couple who are both carrying the same defective gene but are not related from marrying and having children??

A top doctor in the US testified in a incest case, so that the judge could rule for aborting a perfectly formed baby by incest. the doc a specialist in his field testified there are thousands of deformed kids in hospitals, non of them concieved in incest but an over mixing of genes, infact there is not one case on record of any kid being deformed or having mental problems due to incest, this is a myth concocted by religion but doctors keep quiet about it rather than upset the public or go against religion.
a few hundred years ago if a women had a defective baby, the priest was called where he would denounce the women for having incest (even though she had not)the proof she had commited incest according to the priest was the deformed baby.
consensual incest is beautiful, it creats a bond that others will never know! religion will kill us all.

It is only herd mentality that causes people to recoil from incest. Reproduction aside, what can possibly be wrong with consenting adults who love one another celebrating their love by making each other feel good? If no one gets hurt, then the act is merely the rubbing of skin on skin. Just because it is a brother and sister giving each other this pleasure or a mother and son, why is that "wrong"? Where is any proof that this is wrong behavior? People who love each other often make love and making love feels really good.
